“I am passionate about screening exams that prevent disease whether it is a mammogram to detect early signs of breast cancer or in detecting the earliest sign of heart disease through a calcium-score screening or CTA,” states Dr. Alan Osumi, the new, full-time Radiologist at Cobre Valley Regional Medical Center.
Dr. Alan Osumi is a Diplomat with the American Board of Radiology and the National Board of Medical Examiners. He earned his undergraduate degree in Chemistry, from Harvey Mudd College, a PH.D. in Organic Chemistry from the University of Southern California, San Diego. His Transitional Internship was accomplished at the University of North Dakota-St. Luke’s, Radiology Residency at the University of California, San Diego and Completed a Fellowship in Neuroradiology at Duke University Medical Center where he was also an Assistant Professor of Radiology.
“I am also very focused on each patient and believe I should treat people the way I would want my family to be treated,” Dr. Osumi explains his philosophy of patient care and customer service. “For example, when a woman comes to the hospital for a mammogram, she is filled with anxiety. She should have the results before she leaves our facility and should not have to wait any length of time with worry or apprehension.”
Dr. Osumi has been the recipient of many accolades and awards throughout his career including Physician of the Year, Preceptor of the Year, and Trustee of the Year. He is a member of the American Roentgen Ray Society, American Society of Neuroradiology, Radiological Society of North America, American College of Radiology, Arizona Medical Association, and the American Medical Association. He has held many Medical Staff Appointments including Medical Director of Radiology, Radiation Safety Officer, and Chief-of-Staff to a name a few.
