Get to Know Our Urologists
Dr. Thomas H. Sanford is a board-certified urologist dedicated to delivering advanced, patient-centered care to the Globe, Arizona community. A native of Hawaii, Dr. Sanford earned his medical degree from the University of Hawaii at Mānoa’s John A. Burns School of Medicine. He completed his urology residency at the University of California, San Francisco, followed by a fellowship in Urologic Oncology at the National Cancer Institute, part of the National Institutes of Health.
Dr. Sanford specializes in minimally invasive treatments for prostate cancer and benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH), as well as the management of urinary stone disease and general urological conditions. His clinical approach emphasizes reducing recovery times and improving outcomes—aligning with the needs of Globe’s working-class population.
In addition to his clinical practice, Dr. Sanford is actively involved in research focused on image-guided procedures and the integration of artificial intelligence in medicine. His work aims to enhance diagnostic accuracy and treatment precision, contributing to the advancement of urological care.

Dr. Joshua Leese‘s philosophy is centered on building strong, trusting relationships with his patients. He believes that the best medical care comes from a partnership, where patients are fully informed and empowered to make decisions about their health.
After graduating from Wayne State University and completing his residency in Urology at Indiana University, Dr. Leese was drawn to the precision and effectiveness of robotic laparoscopic and endoscopic procedures. He finds these procedures particularly beneficial for his patients due to their minimally invasive nature, which often leads to quicker recovery times and significant improvements in their quality of life.
In addition to his expertise in general robotic laparoscopic and endoscopic procedures, Dr. Leese has a particular specialization in HoLEP (Holmium Laser Enucleation of the Prostate). This advanced, minimally invasive procedure is highly effective for men with very enlarged prostates, offering patients excellent results, a shorter hospital stay, and a rapid return to daily activities.
Charles Ock Kim Jr., MD earned his medical degree from George Washington University School of Medicine in 1987 and completed his Urology residency at the University of Miami.
He went on to practice in Hawaii, where he specialized in minimally invasive urologic surgery and urologic oncology. In addition to his full-time role with Hawaii Pacific Health, Dr. Kim also served as part-time faculty at the University of Hawaii, contributing to the education and training of future physicians.
Throughout his career, Dr. Kim has been recognized for his excellence in patient care, consistently earning honors such as “Best of the Best Doctors” in Hawaii and being named among “Best Doctors in America” nationally.
Outside of the office, Dr. Leese, who was born and raised in northern Michigan, splits his time between Denver, his cabin in Southwest Colorado, and Arizona. His favorite place to be is in the mountains, spending time with his children and family. Together, they enjoy outdoor activities such as hiking, fishing, and hunting. He also enjoys competing in powerlifting events and you will often find him at the local gym after work.
