Healing Starts Here: What You Should Know About Our Wound Clinic

At our hospital’s Wound Clinic, we often hear patients say, “I wish I had known you were here sooner.” Many have lived with painful, persistent wounds for months—some even traveling to the Valley for care—without realizing expert help was available right here at home.

We want to change that.

What We Do – And Why It Matters

Our Wound Clinic may not fit neatly into a traditional department like Family Practice or Surgery, but what we offer is life-changing. Our team specializes in treating both common and complex wounds: diabetic ulcers, surgical wounds, trauma-related injuries, burns, and pressure sores, just to name a few. We see patients of all ages—from young adults with injuries that are keeping them out of work, to seniors managing post-operative recovery.

Wounds are different from other health conditions. They’re often visible, painful, and deeply affect your quality of life. That’s why we focus not just on healing the wound, but on supporting the whole person—physically, emotionally, and even socially.

You Don’t Need a Referral

In most cases, no referral is needed to be seen at the Wound Clinic. If you have a wound—big or small—that’s not healing, call us directly. Our team can assess the situation quickly and get you scheduled based on urgency. Unlike some clinics where front desk staff might not know how to triage wound issues, our clinic can evaluate your needs immediately, preventing unnecessary complications or hospitalizations.

And don’t worry about insurance—we’re flexible and willing to work with patients to make sure they get the care they need.

What to Expect at Your Visit

From the moment you walk in, you’ll be greeted with compassion. Your first visit involves a thorough assessment, including your medical history, how you’re feeling, and how the wound is affecting your life. We take measurements and, with your permission, photographs to track healing over time.
Depending on the wound, treatment may include cleaning, specialized dressings, or debridement (removal of dead tissue). We’ll talk you through everything so you’re not caught off guard. Before you leave, you’ll understand your treatment plan and what you can do at home to support your healing.

We also spend time educating patients—on nutrition, blood sugar, cardiovascular health, and how these things impact wound healing. You might be surprised how many people delay care because they didn’t realize their wound was connected to other health issues.

Advanced Services You Won’t Find Just Anywhere

What sets our clinic apart is our access to advanced wound care options that are rare for a rural hospital our size:

  • Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBOT): We’re one of the smallest hospitals in Arizona offering this state-of-the-art treatment. HBOT increases oxygen levels in tissues that aren’t healing properly, giving patients a much higher chance of recovery—especially in limb-threatening cases.
  • Biologics (Skin Substitutes): These are cutting-edge dressings made from living tissue that act like non-surgical skin grafts. They help stimulate healing in complex or stalled wounds.

  • In-Clinic Procedures: We perform surgical-style procedures like wound closures, incision and drainage, and advanced debridement—all without needing an operating room.

We tailor every treatment to the individual. Two people with the same wound might have completely different care plans. That’s the level of personalization we’re proud to offer.

When Should You Call?

If you have a wound that isn’t healing—or one that’s becoming red, hot, painful, or swollen—call us. Don’t wait weeks or months hoping it’ll improve. We’d rather see you early and tell you everything’s fine than treat a problem that’s progressed too far.

Even if it seems minor—like a skin tear or a burn—it’s worth having it checked out. That one phone call could prevent a serious infection, hospitalization, or even limb loss.

Final Thoughts

Wound care isn’t always top of mind for most people, and even many medical providers aren’t fully trained in the most current evidence-based practices. That’s where we come in. Our team is dedicated, highly trained, and passionate about what we do.

Whether you’re managing a chronic wound, recovering from surgery, or just unsure whether something is healing the way it should—don’t wait. Call the Wound Clinic. Let us help you heal and get back to living your life.
