How CVRMC Clinics Bring Care Closer to Home

At Cobre Valley Regional Medical Center (CVRMC), health care doesn’t just happen within the walls of the hospital. With seven clinics spanning Globe, Superior, Kearny, Tonto Basin, and Young, CVRMC is committed to bringing high-quality, compassionate care directly to our rural communities.

Care That Reaches Beyond Globe

Three clinics sit right on the hospital campus: Family Practice, Red Rock, and additional hospital-based services. Beyond Globe, CVRMC operates four rural health clinics in Superior, Kearny, Tonto Basin, and Young. Each location provides primary care and connects patients to a wide range of services.

“We’re trying to bring as many services close to the communities as possible,” explained Jason Graham, Regional Clinics Manager. “It’s convenient for patients, and it allows us to keep care local.”

Specialists regularly travel to outlying clinics, including orthopedics and podiatry, so patients don’t have to drive long distances for specialized care.

Unique Services in a Rural Setting

Over the past year, CVRMC has added several specialists and services that are especially rare for a rural hospital:

Urology: CVRMC is home to three urologists who work closely together, providing advanced procedures not available in surrounding areas. One of these, the HoLEP procedure, is performed by only a handful of providers in the state.

ENT (Ear, Nose, and Throat): Established earlier this year, ENT services have quickly become an essential resource for the region.

Neurosurgery: “Having neurosurgery in a rural area is very uncommon,” Graham said. “Dr. Sharma has been here about six months, and his services are a huge benefit for our patients.”

Radiation Oncology: Cancer patients can now stay close to home for life-saving treatments.

“Individually, each of these specialties is impressive,” said Graham. “But it’s the combination that makes CVRMC exceptional.”

Convenience Without the Wait

For many patients, choosing CVRMC clinics comes down to one reason: avoiding the Valley. Between construction, long drives, and months-long wait times, traveling to Phoenix or Tucson isn’t ideal.

“At CVRMC, we want to get you in tomorrow or today, not three to five months from now,” Graham shared. “Timely scheduling is one of our strongest areas of patient satisfaction.”

To make access even easier, CVRMC is rolling out new technology tools:

Arterra Texting System: Patients receive appointment reminders and can cancel or reschedule with a quick text.

Self-Scheduling: Soon, patients will be able to log in anytime, view open appointments, and schedule directly, even at 9:30 p.m. from home.

“Everyone loves the texting system, and I do too,” Graham added. “Instead of losing an appointment card, you just get a text. Self-scheduling is the next step, it’s 2025, and patients deserve that kind of convenience.”

A Team Approach to Care

Behind the scenes, CVRMC clinics thrive on teamwork and adaptability. Staff are cross-trained and ready to step in wherever they’re needed most, ensuring patients are always cared for without delay.

“Flexibility and adaptability are essential in rural health,” said Graham. “It’s about finding a way to say yes instead of jumping on the ‘no’ train.”

The Heart of It All

When asked to sum up CVRMC clinics in three words, Graham chose: growing, agile, and compassionate.

“That’s really the bottom line,” he explained. “We want to help patients, grow through challenges, and support our staff along the way. The most rewarding part is seeing patients get the care they need and sometimes even better quality than they’d receive in the Valley. From a manager’s perspective, it’s also seeing our people grow and develop. That’s what makes it all worthwhile.”
