Neurosurgery

Abhishiek Sharma, MD, is a highly experienced neurosurgeon who specializes in minimally invasive and robot-assisted spine surgery. After graduating from Wayne State University in Detroit with his bachelor’s degree, Dr. Sharma received his medical degree at Chicago Medical School. He then completed his Neurosurgical internship at the Department of Neurological Surgery, Medical College of Wisconsin in Milwaukee, staying on for his residency and completing both a spine concentration and a stereotactic radiosurgery concentration.

Dr. Sharma is a well-published author in the field of Neurological surgery and his work has been published in various peer-reviewed journals and textbooks. He is routinely involved with teaching other physicians various cutting-edge surgical procedures. He is also actively engaged in teaching Neurosurgical residents and medical students. Dr. Sharma is also a member of the Congress of Neurological Surgeons and the American Association of Neurological Surgeons.

Dr. Sharma’s pursuit of a neurosurgical career is one of dedication, perseverance, and commitment. He grew up in an engineering household, where most tasks were about calculation, precision, and execution.

For the longest time, he was convinced he was destined to be an electrical engineer. He wonders whether he’s become an electrical engineer on a biological scale, as the functioning of neural pathways is not all that different from an electrical circuit. It is that same attention to precision and detail that shapes his career as a neurosurgeon.

Dr. Sharma likes cooking, hiking, and playing tennis. He enjoys spending time with his wife, parents, brother, and German Shepherd, while exploring new pastimes and everything else that Arizona has to offer.
