Winlove B. Suasin, MD is the Medical Director of the Department of Radiation Oncology at CVRMC. Dr. Suasin moved from Scottsdale/Phoenix and brings 28 years of experience in Radiation Oncology to Cobre Valley Regional Medical Center. She specializes in cutting-edge cancer treatments using our state-of-the-art Halcyon Linear Accelerator 6X-FFF to treat Prostate Cancer, Breast Cancer, Lung Cancer, Colorectal cancer, Brain Metastasis, Head and Neck Cancer, Gynecologic Cancer, Skin Cancers and also treats palliative disease. She is well versed in complex treatment techniques such as IMRT (Intensity Modulated Radiation Therapy), VMAT (Volumetric Arc Therapy) with IGRT (Image Guidance RT), 3DCRT (Three Dimensional Conformal Therapy), SRS (Stereotactic Radiosurgery), SBRT (Stereotactic Body Radiotherapy), GammaKnife Stereotactic Radiosurgery, Nucleotron HDR (High Dose Rate) Brachytherapy for Prostate, LDR (Low Dose Rate) Prostate Seed Implants, Mammosite Breast Brachytherapy, APBI (Accelerated Partial Breast Irradiation) to name a few.
Dr. Suasin completed her Radiation Oncology Residency at St. Mary’s Medical Center in San Francisco, California and completed another year at the prestigious Fox Chase Cancer Center in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. She received her Doctor of Medicine degree from Creighton University School of Medicine in Omaha, Nebraska and received her Bachelor of Arts Degree in Zoology from the University of California at Davis campus in Davis, California. She ran her own free-standing facility in Arkansas and has done extensive work with roles as Medical Director or locums all over the US such as California, Pennsylvania, Virginia, Hawaii and Guam. Most recently, she was commissioned to build The Brunei Cancer Center and worked for Sultan Bolkiah for 4 years in Brunei Darussalam where she was the Head of Department and installed the first Varian Edge, Varian TrueBeam, IBA Cyclotron, Siemens PET/CT Scan, & MRI scans. She was instrumental in developing their Cancer Center as well as recruitment and training of staff from RTTs, Nurses to Physicists and Physicians.
She is a proud mother of three daughters, one son and has 2 grandchildren. On her spare time, she enjoys horseback riding, listening to her favorite k-pop artist, classical music by Andrea Bocelli and listening and watching videos of her children singing, playing the piano and guitar and most of all, watching her favorite concert pianist, her late Mother, Rosita Bonpua Suasin who the family lovingly calls “Lola Rose”. She also loves reading biographies about individuals with worldly contributions to communities all over the world. She enjoys traveling because she feels it is the best way to meet interesting people and immerse yourself in various cultures of the world.
