New at CVRMC: Urology Care That Puts Patients First
Cobre Valley Regional Medical Center is excited to welcome a brand-new Urology Department, bringing advanced care for both men and women right here to our community. We sat down with Dr. Joshua Leese to learn more about what makes the department stand out, how it helps patients, and the innovative procedures they’re offering.
Comprehensive Care for Every Patient
“Our goal is to take care of any urologic issue, no matter how big or small,” Dr. Leese told us. From urinary tract concerns to kidney stones, bladder or prostate conditions, the team treats a wide range of issues for men and women alike. The department offers everything from minimally invasive robotic and laparoscopic procedures to traditional surgeries, making sure patients get the care that’s right for them.
Innovation at the Heart of the Department
One of the advanced procedures CVRMC’s Urology Department will be offering is HoLEP, or Holmium Laser Enucleation of the Prostate. Dr. Leese explained, “It’s becoming more common and is actually considered the gold standard for treating men with enlarged prostates. I’m excited to offer it here.” By bringing innovative procedures like HoLEP to the Valley, the department is helping patients get top-tier treatment without having to travel far.

Quick Access When It Matters Most
Urology care is often urgent, and the team understands the importance of timely treatment. “We can usually see patients within a week or two and get surgeries scheduled quickly,” Dr. Leese shared. Emergency cases, like severe kidney stones or urinary obstructions, are prioritized immediately. This focus on accessibility is already drawing patients from Tucson, Mesa, and beyond.
Personalized, Compassionate Care

The Urology Department prides itself on spending time with patients. “I take time to get to know them—why they’re coming in, any past experiences, and what symptoms they’re having,” Dr. Leese said. Each patient receives a personalized treatment plan, ensuring they feel comfortable, informed, and supported throughout their care.
Education and prevention are key priorities for the department. Dr. Leese emphasized, “Men shouldn’t ignore urinary symptoms—they can indicate serious conditions that require timely care. PSA testing and physical exams are critical.” He also noted that urologic care isn’t just for men: women with recurrent UTIs, visible blood in their urine, or other urinary symptoms should seek evaluation promptly.
Building a Strong Presence in the Community
With advanced technology, expert care, and a focus on patient comfort, CVRMC’s Urology Department is quickly establishing itself as a vital resource for the community. “People are already coming from other cities to avoid long waits,” Dr. Leese said. “We’re here and ready to help.”
Whether you’re managing ongoing urologic concerns or experiencing new symptoms, the department offers comprehensive, compassionate care close to home. Patients can trust that they’ll receive the same level of expertise found in larger metropolitan hospitals—without the long drive.
